Pakistan’s dynamic left-handed opener, Fakhar Zaman, has officially resumed training as he gears up for a highly anticipated return to competitive cricket in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10. This comeback follows an unfortunate injury that prematurely ended his campaign in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
Fakhar had sustained an oblique muscle tear during Pakistan’s opening match of the Champions Trophy against New Zealand. However, the injury significantly hampered his mobility and timing at the crease, leading to an uncharacteristically scratchy 24-run knock before being dismissed.
Medical scans later confirmed the seriousness of the oblique tear, which not only ruled him out of the remainder of the tournament but also sidelined him for Pakistan’s much-anticipated high-voltage clash against India, scheduled for February 23 in Dubai.
With the heartbreak of the Champions Trophy now behind him, Fakhar has shifted his focus towards a strong comeback. He has returned to net practice sessions with his PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars, and is determined to regain full match fitness and form before the league kicks off on April 11.

“The first day back was definitely tough. After being away from the bat for so long, it felt really strange—as if I was batting without pads,” he said with a smile. “But as the session progressed, I started timing the ball well and felt much better. It’s a step forward.”
With just a little over a week left before the tournament begins, Fakhar remains optimistic and motivated. He is not only working hard on regaining rhythm but also setting high goals for himself—goals he’s familiar with and committed to achieving.
“My ambition is the same as always—to become the top run-scorer of the tournament and to help Lahore Qalandars lift the trophy again. That’s the dream I’m chasing this season too,” he said confidently.
